Upper Primary English Course

Tailor-made program for P.5 and P.6 students. 

Students will:

  • be ready for SSPA examinations

  • revise all grammatical items learnt in primary school

  • be further exposed to different forms of text types - fatasy, adventures, information report, journal, fiction, biographies, poems, etc.

  • explore word definitions and use new words in context

  • hone oral skills to be able to speak confidently

Middle Primary English Course

Tailor-made program for P.3 and P.4 students.

Students will: 

  • read from a variety of texts, such as narratives, poems, letters, play scripts and traditional tales

  • use a range of powerful verbs, adjectives and imperative verbs

  • extend sentences to compound and complex sentences

  • develop and organise ideas, and express them using the correct language choices in both presentations and written tasks

Lower Primary English Course

Tailor-made program for P.1 and P.2 students. 

Students will:

  • gain exposure to narratives, simple, rhymes and poems, instructions, recounts and information reports

  • learn sentence punctuation, rhyming words, new vocabulary in context

  • develop phonics skills to enable students to become independent readers

  • develop reading comprehension skills

  • express ideas and take turns in speaking

Upper Primary Writing

  • Narrative and expository writing

  • Comparing and contrasting

  • Logical writing in paragraphs

  • Effective use of synonyms and pronouns to avoid repetition in sentences

  • Organisation of essay writing and logical development

  • Imagery techniques 

  • Use conjunctions to convey ideas smoothly

  • Using details and examples to support reasoning

  • Persuasive techniques

Middle Primary Writing

  • Writing interesting introductions to hook the reader

  • Writing about a personal experience

  • Logical writing in paragraphs

  • Narrative

  • Recounting

  • Diary writing

  • Giving written instructions

  • Conclusions

  • Descriptive writing

Lower Primary Writing

  • Developing their punctuation and spelling skills.  

  • Understanding sentence structure.

  • Developing skills to write descriptively. 

  • Learn to distinguish opinions and facts.

  • Understand simple narrative and develop story-telling skills
